Charley is an adorable 10 week old golden retriever puppy that found herself on Craigslist, into the hands of a young college student and then into the arms of North Meck Animal Rescue. Upon arrival we noticed Charley wasn’t up to normal puppy antics. After taking her to our vet we discovered why this innocent puppy was in need of rescuing. Charley had Parvo, a virus that unvaccinated dogs can get and it’s almost always fatal.

Charley has spent the last 6 days in intensive care. She has been on a constant line of IV fluids and antibiotics to prevent secondary infection. The good news is that Charley is a survivor! She turned a corner last night and has started to eat. Although she is still in the hospital receiving around the clock care, our vet believes Charley will make it. Due to our already overwhelming vet bill from over 6 heartworm positive dogs and their treatment, we need your help! Not only is parvo a deadly virus, it’s also quite expensive to treat.

On behalf of Charley, and all the dogs at North Meck Animal Rescue, thank you. Because of you, we can continue our mission to help homeless dogs and believe in second chances.
