Need to Rehome Your Pet?
We understand that circumstances can change and sometimes people need help finding a new home for a pet. There are several options available that can help you safely find a new home while keeping your pet out of an already crowded shelter system.
Rehome Your Pet Yourself
For most pets, the best place to start is by trying to find a new home directly. Rehoming your pet yourself allows you to speak with potential adopters, choose the home you feel is the best fit, and keep your pet in familiar surroundings while you search.
Courtesy Listings
In some situations, NMAR may be able to help advertise a pet while the pet remains with its current owner or finder. A courtesy listing does not mean that NMAR can take the animal into our rescue or guarantee placement, but it may help the pet reach additional potential adopters.
Other Resources
Depending on your situation, there may be other options that can help. If the reason you are considering rehoming involves veterinary expenses, spay/neuter, behavior, housing, pet food or supplies, or another problem, please contact us through the Pet Help form. We may be able to provide information or connect you with resources that could help.
Still Need Help?
If you have explored the available options and still need assistance, please complete our Pet Help form. This gives us some basic information about the animal and your situation so we can determine what resources or options may be available.
